Quotes from her friends

"We will remember Jane as a fantastic friend.... on and off the courts. She was great and fun to play tennis with. After a game of tennis we often had engrossing discussions and we truly appreciated and loved her as a warm, friendly and wise woman. Marijke"

"I remember a couple of years ago, when I'd join my mom on her tennis games and I was always so happy when you would be there as well. Most of her friends were always interested in what I was up to, but you had a special interest -- you really understood where I was coming from when I spoke of going to Africa, of wanting to save the environment, etc. Just as I had many professors in college but only a few who really guided me to where I am today, so I also know many of my mom's friends but only a couple have really had an impact on where I am and who I am today. You are one of these. I am working for a non-profit, going after corporations that are exploiting organics, and not getting paid anywhere near as much as I would if I had chosen a different line of work or chosen to work for a company instead of a small non-profit watchdog. I wouldn't be here today if it weren't for the few people who really influenced me by taking such a serious interest in what I believed in and what I was up to during those very formative college years. The people who made it clear that doing what you believe in, is really important. The people who were genuinely happy that I was doing what I was doing. The people who really listened. The people who shared their books with me so I could learn from them. It is the people like you, the people who encouraged me to do the crazy things in life that make a difference, to whom I am so grateful. So Jane, THANK YOU!!! "
