LATC Board Minutes
August 6, 2008

 

The meeting was called to order at 7:15pm by Beth Watt. Present were: Doris Lehr, Bill Powell, Frank Smyth, Beth Watt.

      Minutes:
      Pat Frischmann previously posted the June 4, 2008 minutes to the YahooGroups website, and were approved.

      Treasurer Report:
      Doris Lehr presented the treasurer’s report, and was approved.

      Membership:
      Mary Ann Weingartner submitted her report prior to the meeting:
      •     Renewed members - 97 (71%)
      •     New members since August 2007 - 32 (23%)
      •     Lifetime members - 8 (6%)
      Because the grace period for renewal has ended, individuals who did not renew have been deleted from the roster.

      President’s Report:
      Beth Watt announced, as already noted in the YahooGroups site, that after our September 3 meeting we will no longer be able to use the room at The Heritage Bank for Board meetings. Beth will post information on the YahooGroups site to help all facilitate a new meeting location starting October 1.

      Relay For Life (Dinner and Tournament): Doris Lehr
      At present $3500.00 was raised by LATC for Relay For Life, through the dinner at Fiesta Vallarta and the Tournament. Final donation number will be announced later. Doris noted a big thank you for Tom Gregory and Joyce Johnsen for the lunch served at the tournament, which was enjoyed by all. Doris also announced the Joyce Johnsen won the Fiesta Vallarta benefit drawing prize.

      Tournaments: Frank Smyth
      •     A broadcast email went out to membership to sign up for the two-day Quad Team Tournament August 16-17 in Mountain View by emailing Frank Smyth.

      Interclubs:
      3.5 - Beth Watt
      3.0 - Pat Frischmann
      •     New season matches will start in September for both Interclubs
      •     Motion made and approved for LATC to purchase tennis balls, up to $250.00, for all home matches for both Interclubs for the year.

      Ladders: (M&W Singles, Mens Doubles, Mixed Doubles)
      No reports.

      Tennis For Charity (TFC): Jack Bates
      No Report

      Newsletter: Marijke Vallaeys
      All submissions for the August newsletter should be made to Marijke

      Other:
      Doris Lehr told us that Lynne Sweet fell on Monday and fractured her back. Surgery was to take place today and that she would let us know how Lynne is doing. Doris will order and send flowers from LATC to her at the hospital.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:45 pm.
