From all feedback, the LATC General Meeting and Dinner on April 10 was a huge success - there were 75 attendees!
In keeping with our bylaws to hold a general meeting, it was decided to bring us together socially as well - hence, the dinner. Some of us met others in the club for the first time since all of our tennis paths don't always cross.
This was a huge undertaking to make it successful, and sincere thanks go to our committee chairs: Bill Powell, Mary Ann Weingartner and Doris Lehr planned, shopped and facilitated all of the dinner needs - a big job.
Anne Abrams and Carol Moulton carried out the Italian theme with terrific decorations to set the mood, and Jack Bates provided a fun program that included a hilarious recitation by Bob Pearl, LATC storyteller-in -residence, entitled "Shopping for Women's Wear".
Thanks also go to Marijke Vallaeys, Lynn Hunton, Pat Frischmann, Tom Moulton and Myrna Marshall for helping out at the event. Tom Gregory set up the LATC archived photo albums for all to enjoy - and hopefully to identify some past members.
We had a number of great door prizes. Thanks go to Swetka's, as always, for their generous restringing and several t-shirts and cans of tennis balls, and to restaurants Aldo of Los Altos, Bella Vita and Le Boulanger for gift certificates. De Martini's for a large fruit basket, and several anonymous donations.
All in all a tterrific evening! Thank you to all for attending to make it such a success.
Please anticipate an email in a couple of weeks of a LATC survey. The questions asked will give you a chance to respond to let the board know what activities you would most like provided, and to respond to the board's questions about other issues within the club.
Please let also Doris Lehr know of your interest in joining TEAM SMASH CANCER as walkers in the 24-hour RELAY FOR LIFE event at Los Altos High School on June 23-24.
Frank Smyth is arranging a COMBO Relay for Life Doubles Tournament for June 16, all proceeds to be donated to this very worthy national fundraiser.
If you haven't attented the Relay for Life envent, you have missed an incredibly moving and rewarding experience.
