I wish to thank all Board members – and members at large – for making my job as president run smoothly. Everyone stepped up to issues and got things done.
• Frank Smyth was better than ever in getting the tournaments running smoothly and with a lot of fun.
• All of our “social” people – Levan Gray, Marilyn Shodiss, Grace Haig, Pat Martin – and their helpers – prepared and set up marvelous lunches at our tournaments.
• Pat Frischmann addressed our concerns with the City Council and Rec Department on tennis court cleaning, the Rosita pool situation, and our position on things in general.
• As a new member of the board Mary Ann Weingartner stepped right in and asked all the right questions and got us thinking in productive ways. She was especially welcoming to new members.
• Bill Powell has also stepped in as Vice President and USTA chair person.
• Marijke Vallaeys continues to be probably our most popular member, who manages the LATC website from her home in France.
• Beth Watt keeps us informed in a timely and professional manner by producing the LATC newsletter, and broadcasting email reminders of tournaments and other issues.
• Lynn Hunton just did everything he could to get newsletters out promptly, including hand delivering whenever necessary.
• The Ladies Interclub chairs, Beth Watt, Lynne Sweet, Bette Bates, Anne Abrams and Carol Moulton, continue to keep Interclub play with many other city and private clubs a vital part of LATC.
• Jack Bates got us playing great competitive tennis and meeting new people with the on-going fundraiser Tennis For Charity, not to mention hosting (with Bette) a successful party for all who played.
• Doris Lehr and Pat Frischmann took up our banner for the incredibly successful national fundraiser Relay For Life Cancer Walk.
• Snyeska Bendis did a good job as membership chair and responded very quickly to all requests.
• Marilyn Taketa came to our rescue with the State of California renewal of our non-profit status.
• Marilyn Young has taken her leave of the board after her many years of presenting profiles and history for the LATC. She will be sincerely missed.
• Jean Hassoun and Marilyn Payne keep us informed and give us encouragement via the LATC Yahoo Groups message board.
I am especially thankful that everyone worked so hard and so well for the entire year. What a team! I wish to invite anyone interested in being a member of the Board of Directors to please contact anyone on the Board and come to the next meeting
7 and select your area of interest for participation. WE NEED YOU!!
Finally, I congratulate Beth Watt on taking over the helm as president and I wish her success for the upcoming year.
See you on the courts,
Tom
