Rosita /Covington Courts – Good news! – The Los Altos City Council dug up the money (2+ million dollars) to do the construction on the three new courts and a restroom plus other enhancements. Per Dave Brees, they have named a contractor and have a tentative schedule to start in mid-December and finish around May. So by late spring we may have three nice new courts! Thanks to those who helped to cause this to happen! I remember that Pat Frischmann was a leader in this effort. Thanks Pat!
Los Altos Hi School Tennis Court Lights – A parent of several local young tennis players, Kimberly Beck, has been working with the Los Altos City Council to get the lights working at the courts. City staff feels that the current light system is shot and a complete new system is required – cost 60 to 70 thousand. Currently per staff, there is no money in the budget for this. The next year’s budget will be set in June – New City Council members will be active in December, so we need to make the case sometime from December thru June.
Regards, Bill Powell
